It’s never too soon to begin the networking process and reaching out to your connections. An informational interview can happen at any time! For applying to actual open positions I would say April is reasonable.

With graduation coming up in three months and moving to NYC in May I always love finding any advice on job hunting-especially in the PR world! My friend has stressed about the location being key, but do you have any reccomendations on when to start hunting for entry level jobs? Like you mentioned, the turnaround/hiring process is so quick! Everyone I’ve spoken with has recommended end of April at the earliest for a May graduation, but didn’t know if you had a different stance?

Really appreciate your insight, and am such a huge fan of your blog 🙂

I agree with these 100% and usually tell people the same things. I’m a little more relaxed when it comes to color though. My personal resume actually uses a maroon red for section titles. So it’s subtle, but stands out in a stack of black and white resumes. My boss even said the red caught her eye from a large stack. So it worked for me, but realize it doesn’t work for everyone. Otherwise, great tips and thanks for sharing!!
