I live in Hoboken- and would like to hear your take on some of the bars & restaurants in the area. It seems like your just getting settled!

I also just moved from NYC to JC (Journal Square) after 3 years and I agree with your review 100%, Katie! The things I disliked about the city are the same as your list and what I dislike about JC is pretty much spot on. When you are used to living in Manhattan, JC is a tough transition. It’s not to say there aren’t places open late, nail salons, etc., but the number of them in comparison to those in Manhattan is just not comparable. I love JC for many reasons but it is definitely more laid back and suburban feeling than NYC (I lived in Hudson Yards and then the UES). I think the people commenting and saying that your review is inaccurate or offensive in some way just don’t have your perspective (just like you don’t have theirs). That’s why we all have different opinions! Xo

You are too sweet! These people leaving comments are rude and could ask or make their statement observation in a better manner. I grew up on1st and Grove. I’ve seen my hometown change for the better and I love seeing it.
I am glad you made a decision to choose Jersey City. Here in this City, we reference it as Chilltown.

So how much you actually pay now for your 2 bedroom apt? You had no problem to disclose Manhattan rent, parking etc.

I’ve heard great things about Hamilton Park and definitely would love to spend some more time in that area. Thank you so much for sharing that with me!

I really appreciate you sharing this information with me! I’ve only lived here for 4 months so I’m by no means an expert and agree that I have a lot more exploring to do. Really all I can do is speak to my own experience, so I’d definitely encourage anyone interested in JC to come here and check it out for themselves or talk to someone who has been a local for more than just a few months. xo

So true!!! I probably should’ve clarified this in my post, because most folks who aren’t local probably don’t realize this. Thank you!!!

Gentrification is so real for us brown ppl & minorities even with good or descent credit. Well, that doesn’t matter, sounds like you were just happy to explore other options of happiness. However, I grew up on 8th & Coles st. by Hamilton Park which is an awesome park you should absolutely check out. The Hamilton Park Association offers soo many things to explore of the community such as the farmer’s market, wine tastings, yoga classes, and many other activities for adults and children. Welcome to Jersey City and more………

So crazy. Hope you’re loving your new home!
