I’m all for trying new trends and have never shied away from jumping on the bandwagon when one comes around that genuinely appeals to me. But menswear? Like, literally borrowing from the boys? I’ve never understood the appeal of raiding your man’s closet. Nick has great style, but there’s no way I’m trying to walk around #twinning with him. Oh lord I can just imagine the look on his face right now…

So I had totally made up my mind that the menswear trend was one that I wouldn’t be trying. Oversized masculine-cut pieces? Nah I’m good. That is until I stumbled across this Topshop tie stripe strapless top. It didn’t even strike me as menswear-inspired when I first saw it. I had to read the description to notice it was designed with a mens’ button down shirt in mind.

So what do you think? While this is the probably the closest I’ll come towards emulating Nick’s office looks, it goes to show that menswear-inspired pieces can be flattering and feminine. The striped cotton fabric and the play on sleeves with a tie sash— so cute right? This top was such a pleasant surprise for me and a total win because the price tag fell perfectly within my budget.
