Celebrating the 4th of July is always one of my summer highlights. Growing up the fourth was always a big deal in my family. We’d get together with all my cousins at our country club where we’d spending the day swimming and competing in different relay races and games. Anyone remember water balloon tosses? Or potato sack races? Yep, those were my jam. Then in the afternoon there would be a big buffet-style cookout complete with burgers, hotdogs and an ice-cream bar. It was SO much fun and by the time the fireworks shot off at midnight we’d all be falling asleep.

While the where and how of celebrating the fourth may have changed since I was little, my desire to dress up in red, white and blue is still going strong. I mean, let’s be real,  #AmericanPrideIsHardToHide. Nick and I are actually heading to my Pennsylvania hometown this year so there’s a chance this holiday may end looking quite similar to how I celebrated when I was younger.

Now the question of what to wear… You guys know I don’t like to spend a lot of money on trends or passing fads, and while I love America, I’m not about to pay $100+ for a pair of flag shorts. I’ll probably end up wearing something simple like white jeans and a chambray top, or this cute stripe off shoulder dress. There a lot of great affordable items you can order in time for next week if you’re still searching for a Patriotic look. I personally think I rounded up some of the best 🙂
