How To Score Discounts On Designer Holiday Gifts

Didn’t finish all your holiday shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Don’t worry, me neither. We still have over two weeks guys! No need to panic yet 😛

So one of the things I love about my family is that we’ve always had the philosophy that it’s not about the quantity of the gifts, but the quality. More often than not growing up, I would get one or two gifts that my heart was really set on (that my parents, grandparents and extended family would contribute to purchasing) versus waking up to find a ton of not as meaningful presents under the tree. I’ve carried this view on gift-giving and receiving into adulthood and my relationship with Nick. Luckily he feels the same way as me when it comes to gifts so birthdays and holidays are always really simple since we’ll give each other a few specific options of what we’d like to receive. One of my favorite gifts from Nick is my Saint Laurent crossbody and I know he loves the Canada Goose parka I gave him for Christmas because he wears it nonstop every day from December through March.

Ever since purchasing my first designer handbag in September, I’ve become much more open to shopping at retailers out of my normal rotation. Looking back, I wish Nick and I had considered eBay when shopping for big ticket items like bags and designer coats. Did you know that 81% of all merchandise sold on eBay is new? I had NO CLUE. For example when you search “Canada Goose Women’s Jackets” on eBay you’ll see there are endless options available that are brand new with tags. Pretty cool, right?

I absolutely love my Canada Goose Kensington Parka (so warm.) It retails for $895, but on eBay you can snag one for yourself at a discount of $100 or more when you sort by “Buy It Now”.  This will give you the option to purchase immediately– aka no bidding or waiting. There even some coats available for $200-$300 less than retail depending on your color and sizing preference.

It’s beyond frustrating when a brand never has a sale (cough cough Canada Goose) so it’s nice that there’s a place where you can get a little kickback when you’re paying for something as expensive as a designer coat or handbag. eBay is also great because you can literally find anything from children’s toys to electronics to home goods and beauty products. Hey, if you’re feeling ambitious you could probably knock out your entire list in just one place! 😛
