I surprisingly get a lot of use out of my weatherproof boots, and not just when I travel– even in the city too! At first thought you wouldn’t think this type of footwear is necessary for Manhattan. I mean, the city is always on top of things when it comes to shoveling snow and keeping sidewalks clear. I remember when I moved here the only pair of boots I owned that were somewhat appropriate for messy weather were my rain boots from college. I quickly learned the hard way that yes, sturdy waterproof shoes are 100% needed. It’s not like you can get from place to place by hopping in your car– everyone walks. Not sure why that wasn’t obvious to me my first winter in New York, but hey lesson learned.
